its all about the money. nba corp headquarters are in new york city and guess what new york is the mecca for hoops, advertising , and for getting ur name known.  i think the city overrated to tell u the truth. they should have the draft at different locations every year or maybe have it at nyc every 4 yrs to not alienate the fans there.

NBA Headquarters are in NY. Furthermore, New York is known for being hot basketball. It's also a huge market. The advertising and public attention is probably the greatest of any American city. Consider all the major attractions in NY and we see why so many public events are hosted in NYC. NYC has the United Nations Headquarters, it has the Statue of Liberty, it has Madison Square Garden "World's Most Famous Arena", it has the famous Macy's Fireworks, it has the famous Broadway Theater, it has the Empire State Building, it had the former World Trade Center. The Draft wouldn't get nearly as much publicity if it were in Miliwaukee or Meadowlands (NJ Nets).

Los Angeles may seem great with it's Hollywood and stardom, but New York City is just a bigger city with more international attention. It's the truth as much as we want to deny it. Money talks, fans do not. We fans who want it to change cities don't have any say because we aren't earning the NBA money.
