  1. Two Reasons. 1) Geography 2) You could not interleague play without a imbalance in the number of teams in each league.

  2. There are 30 teams now, and each league needs even number.  So AL is 14 and NL is 16.  It was 14 and 14 before Tampa Bay and Arizona were added.  Rather than make it 15 and 15, MLB decided to move one team to NL - the Royals were offered the opportunity first and declined, then the Brewers decided to make the shift.

In order to have three divisions so that there is a Wild Card, each league is split into thirds, with AL at East 5, Central 5, and West 5.  NL is West 5, Central 6, and East 5.

  3. Because the Cubbies are in the Central and they are royalty?

Only kidding, of course.  I think it's because Milwaukee used to be AL, but are now NL.  But it doesn't make any sense to me that Houston is in the NL Central.  They should be in the West,  But then the NL West would have 6!

Oh well, can't figure this one out.  Let's just enjoy the baseball season. and forget about how many teams in each division.

    GO CUBBIES!!!!!!!

  4. Because the NL Central is better.

  5. Milwaukee was a NL city, so they didn't want an AL team.

  6. The Milwaukee Brewers were shifted from the AL to The NL about 8 years ago. It was because of travel. It threw off the balance of the leagues.

  7. If they split the league evenly they would have to have an interleague  game every day and MLB likes all the interleague game to be together in blocks.  When the leages expanded last time  Kansas City was given the first choice of staying in the AL or gain to the NL.  They had always been an AL city and didn't want to change.  Milwaukee was the next city given the chance to switch and since they had many years in the NL with the Braves they wanted to switch back to the NL

  8. Because the american league sucks ***

  9. There are 30 major league teams it would not work to have an odd number of teams in each league since there would have to be at least one team with a day off every day of the season.
