  1. actually, a lot of laws are like this.  this is to allow the legislators a chance to adjust laws to reflect changing conditions and correct unintended results

  2. The patriot act was written before 9/11 and it brought alot of concerns and questions after it was written it caused conflict among congress and the people. It needed a lot of revision and then 9/11 occurred and it was put into effect immediately. It needs ammending it's not perfect but we needed it when our security was jeopardized!

  3. Lets just say is unConstitutional and hastily put together.

I am hoping we can scrap it and start over.

Even its name is a misnomer.  There is nothing patriotic about it.

  4. What the other guy said - a lot of laws are like this.

The other point I'd make is that the PA is less unusual than people think, with similar provisions being in place for years against the mafia and drug trades. Most secret court processes (about 9/10 from memory) are related to those laws, not the PA.

  5. The Patriot Act carried a time limit as part of its provisional mandate. For my part, I think we would be better off if it wasn't renewed. It grants the government extraordinary powers to invade the lives and revoke the rights of citizens and human beings.

  6. Because it expires
