President Bush demanded that Russia end the violence in Georgia. Who is he to command Russia what to do? If they want to fight that's their business not ours. Although i can't say that i approve.

  1. Because of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline, that carries oil across Azerbaijan and Georgia to the Turkish port of Ceyhan.

It is the only westward route for Caspian Basin oil that does not cross Russian territory.

Russia is the dominant oil and gas supplier to Western Europe. For strategic reasons, Western governments have sought alternative routes to get Caspian Sea oil and gas to world markets. The BTC pipeline was built by a Western consortium, with major support from the U.S. government.

In other words, the US wants that oil, and if Georgia falls, so does the pipeline.

  2. well you are right bush killed and invaded irag and he goes on and than he cires about putin going into georgia....really i don't care if russia obliterates itself ...but politics are politica as dirty as it is....

  3. When I first heard of this, I thought it was in the U.S. Now I know that it is somewhere else. Russia attacking Georgia could mark the beginning of something big. I guess Bush is trying to prevent that from happening.

  4. he doesnt want to get attacked while the military is in iraq

  5. why did the US care that the germans attacked the jews? It all because "little" problems like this can grow into bigger problems... plus Russia has chemical weapons and such, and that would effect surrounding countries... this is how world wars start, and the US doesn't want things to keep escalating the way they are... people don't realize but this is very serious, and all countries should be troubled by this

  6. US spent too much money on Saakashvili's elections, NATO plans & military needs. Were do you think they've got money for import guns they use now to kill people in S.Ossetia? By selling wine?:)))))) not realy funny...

  7. Georgia is the one committing crimes in the S.Ossetia and US supports them, by providing them with training, technology and counsel.

One US wants the oil, surprise surprise, its all the US ever wants.

Two it wants to place its troops in a country that borders Russia, in order for them feel like they got some control and can spool Russia at any time, good luck with that.

All Russia is doing is protecting people from being killed off by the Georgians. Which I may add was approved by the UN back in the 1992,  the conflict between Georgia and S. Ossetia, if one side attacks the other Russia will take the side of the attacked country. And that was approved by the US and Russia operates strictly within the lines of that act.

  8. ahem. There is a big Oil pipeline there.

  9. I was born in Ukraine and immigrated to US a while ago. Every time there is something going on in Russia, or any of the republics, people at work start bugging me if I know what’s going on and why. As if I have a telepathic connection with that part of the world. I think it’s just an American way of trying to be in everybody’s business. Its much easier to fix somebody else’s problems then your own.
