Question:

Why does the US news skew the real facts so much?

My husband and his family are from Georgia - former USSR, not USA - but are not Georgians - they are Armenians. Our family have seen first hand people taken from their homes and never seen again thanks to the current Georgian president. Georgian forces have been occupying the breakaway state of Abkazhia for years. There is ethnic cleansing of both the Ossetians and the Abkazhians ongoing, and the Armenians we know are treated with malice and forced out of decent jobs. This "presidency" is a tyrant rule with only racisms at heart. Why does the US government still back them? I feel Russia is doing what is right, yet our news articles and stories here in America paint Russia as the bad guy - moving in on some helpless people. The truth is that Russia is trying to end bloodshed. Why does our news media make us believe otherwise?

  1. Americans never liked Russians for a few reasons.

So, because they dislike them, they are backing up Georgia making Russians the back people who are destroying everything.

Let me tell you another thing, Georgina president shut down all the russian channels so georgian poeple woun't have a clue what's going on in south ossetia and think that it's fine there it's only the poor georgia that is getting bomber for no reason!

Georgian president makes me sick - killing inocent babies and children in south ossetia, burning them alive! Shooting old people!

That makes me sick! The president even had the cheek to say that HE and HIS country are the victims! 'tard!

  2. Americn media is coached through their editors on how to cover stories, the problem is, Major media is owned by big investors who have active roles in banking, councel on foriegn relations contacts, political agendas, case in point, Ropert Murdoch.

this man changed the way news is delivered and brought hollywood and 24/7 news in your face reporting..... Propaganda is the headline of most stories we see on tv, I dont see why our country looks down on russia, when our country's banking system is part of the communist manifesto to begin with, the father of communism did earn his stripes in newyork.

  3. Because the mainstream press in the US stopped reporting the news when it was bought by giant corporations in the 80s, and is now just a mouthpiece for the corporate/political elite running the USA. And thus they limit themselves to parroting the official line for the most part, and in the official line, Russia is the bad guy and the aggressor while Georgia is a struggling democracy under attack. It's beyond ludicrous as you point out, here's a guy who has his political opponents charged with treason/espionage and disappeared...and he's a freedom loving ally of the USA? The mind reels.

Short answer: The mainstream media in the USA is a propaganda machine disguised as media.

  4. Because they report it the way americans see it. You are in a different situation so you see it differently. It is all a matter of perspective.

  5. Thank you so much for this enlightenment. This is what I gathered from the 2 articles I read carried on Yahoo. I heard the word genocide mentioned on the news this morning. The U.S. news is a business first. It's all about what will attract the most attention and what will yield the most in terms of advertising dollars. That is what it is all about. How long has this "Presidency" been in power? Why all of a sudden or has this been going on and now there is more involvement?

It may have to do with the Iraq conflict as I've seen that Georgia is a U.S. ally there and we need them. It's wrong, clearly. I feel for those people. How awful.

  6. All news does that not just US news I have lived in several countries its not just a US thing.

You could have any country lets say n**i Germany the news would show Germany as doing the right thing even though its wrong.

All news is pro whatever country there based in period no matter if what there doing is right or wrong.

  7. I get the feeling there's more to this than just South Ossetia. This almost feels like they (US and Russia) are moving some of their more important chess pieces and trying to position themselves in the outcome of this mess. That is the sad reality of politics.

  8. Oh yea I'm going to believe every word that you wrote here, just on your say so.  Are also going to tell me to believe everything the Russia News tells us, now that would make me laugh even more.  Russians are notorious for lying about what really goes on in their own country and the regions around them.

I agree with land warrior there is a lot more to this then just Ossetians, what exactly it is I really don't know.
