  1. Because all the athletes can't do anything else but they are too bad to get into pro sports. so they just go to the olympics to make some money

  2. Sports tradition, you have a group of people who are dedicated in what they do and pour years of hard work on it, with needed facilities and budget, they will excel in what they do, doesn't matter where they are from.

  3. Cos they know how to hide their drug taking the best.........

P.S  chinas winning.......... and thats all thanks to their Scientists. (Just like the Americans)

  4. Not ALL the time! Since 1896, the USA have won 15 out of 25 Games. Next best was USSR (as was) and France, Germany and believe it or not, Great Britain (1908).

BTW: You haven't been watching the Cycling/Sailing events, have you?

  5. NBC only shows events where US athletes are favored. Just look at badminton or soccer.

  6. Because the US is the best at almost everything. Kids in the US grow up believing they can be successful. It's a mindset that most of the world doesn't share. Confidence and hard work breed success...Americans have both.

  7. It seems like the TV stations are only showing the events that Americans are competing in.  If that's the case, it's a shame.

Here in England, BBC Interactive TV are showing all events live, and we can choose from up to six events to watch, switch between them at any time, and with no adverts, so all events are completely uninterrupted.

  8. because the athletes were the best? and the U.S has a lot of exceptional athletes

  9. Theyve got the most money.

    Theyve got enough funding

except china just outdone them this year!

  10. who knows, right now it looks like china might take the lead sooner or later.

  11. the master race, excluding the obvious members of our country.. ehh emm

  12. They are a large country and they invest time and money in their sportsmen.  Here in the UK, you only get a scholarship to a college or university if you are a brainiac, not a potential sports superstar.

  13. They run a collegiate system which is like a production line for sport as our unis are a production line for work Then there is the money what do u need in American football sprinters and big throwing guys Basketball speed and agility so baseball hand eye co ordination etc so some of the best of these guys come into athletics so there is an awful lot of money to be made in sport in America their colleges have what is equivalent to our European cup every probably 2/3 weeks with the money comes excellent coaches EG domancecs (Romanian gymnast I think now coaches the american women) then you have the Caribbean EG Bolt is in the collegiate system so their athletes are competing against the very best which brings them on so it really isn't by chance they are very good GB has performed out of their skins (more money in the sport s part of this )but our athletics needs a blue print that=ch the clubs could and should follow with youngsters we have them it is just getting everyone to sing from roughly the same hymn sheet EG in east anglia we have the east Anglian league which lets youngsters from under 11 years compete so it is complicated but until we get rid of the secrecy in training methods and work to some sort of blueprint overseen by an elite coach per area eg Yorkshire Lanc's lincoln east ang etc we will not move forward maybe this isn't the answer you hoped for but yes I think we need debate to go forward from grass roots level

  14. I'll make this alot easier on everyone, and just ask what is the United States NOT good at?  Rather than focus on one type of event (biking, judo, weight lifting, etc.) we have specialists in every event, usually near the top of the list too.  The Chinese have a numerical advantage over the US in having alot more people to choose from; however, the US is an inter-bred country, where you have Europeans, Asians, Middle Easterners, etc....so while we don't necessarily have the most, we have the best.  That is why USA always wins the Olympics.

LOL! 3 thumbs down is all I get for this??? wow you douchebag European jealous hating USA peasants better step your azz WAY UP if you're going to do anything in London in 4 years...you have ALOT of catching up to do.

  15. They probably told the minister to make them win even if they perform rubbishly!

But don't forget china. The judges are chinese so it is a matter of favouritism. but i am sorry i my comment is hurting chinese people

  16. Actually China are winning more. The US is second in the medal table unless you look at the US media sites (including Yahoo) where they show the medal table in the wrong order.

The Chinese and the US have the biggest teams. 639 and 596 respectively -see Wikipedia link.

  17. It called training and because we are good and the best!

  18. They have a good setup and a great choice to choose from

  19. 301,139,947 people

    Money

    Immigrants

  20. Says who ?

When one considers the population count and the relative GDP per person the US performance is only average.

  21. Tough TOUGH training, for swimmers anyway.

In the US, sport is more encouraged than in other countries, plus, they take more athletes, this year they had about 644/3 athletes, and China had 644/3, either way round i cant remember. So this means they have more competing athletes, more chances of getting to finals, and winning.

Beijing has not done aswell as it has in previous years.

China are beating them this year Though Hmm.. Lol

    Hope i helped :)

  22. Because the US is one of the biggest countries in the world so there's bigger selection of top athletes. The UK is tiny so we're not going to have as many really good athletes. I say quality not quantity.

  23. well, we have a really large percent of the people in the world living in our country so we have a better chance at having some of the best in our country, we are pretty rich compared to many countries so more of our people can afford to train all the time for olimpics. we have a lot more people in the olimpics then many other countries do and if you were to look at the winnings you would find that many other countries also almost always get a medal or two.

  24. Large population, many to select from

A high school system that favours 'Jocks'

and a higher education system that is out of the reach of many but allows 'sports scholarships'

  25. They have a large population, but they aren't winning this year.

I'm always more impressed by Australia as they didn't compromise their beautiful country by letting in any old trash and they have a low population and are still successful.

The USA fast tracks people for citizenship from other countries if they're good athletes.

  26. Because the AMERICAN television networks show the sports where Americans are likely to do well, or that are popular in the US.

If you lived elsewhere, you would see an entirely different selection.

  27. they have been winning for the last phew but now china has took over.

china r only good beacuse they have 1.3 billion people

    and

    USA lots of money!

  28. Steroids

  29. A country doesn't win the Olympics. It's individual athletes or teams competing, not countries. There are hundreds of events that these athletes and teams can win.

You probably mean the medal count. And for "winning" the medal count, there are at least three ways to determine the winner. If you count each medal equally, and a bronze medal is worth just as much as a gold, then the US is ahead of China with 82 medals compared to 79 medals.

Another popular way to rank the countries is to first sort the list by the number of gold medals. If two countries have the same number of gold medals, the ties are broken by comparing the number of silver medals. And if two countries have the same number of both, then bronze medals are compared. Compared this way, China is far ahead of the US with 45 gold compared to 26 gold.

A third way is to assign point values: A gold medal is worth 3 points, silver 2 points, and bronze just 1 point. Then you add up the points for each country. This scoring system has China ahead by a little bit, with 171 points, compared to 162 for the US. But all of this isn't important.

The Olympics are a celebration of diversity, both in terms of the athletes' origins and cultures, and in the sports offered for competition. See beyond the precious metals.

  30. Because you watch NBC. In most of the rest of the world, not only events where their athletes are favored are showed.

  31. 260million people with too much time on their hands.
