  1. Because the Western MD Railroad ends where the Amtrak tracks currently pass through West Baltimore.

In the days of old, one could take a Western MD train from Mt. Clare Station (which was the B&O Station) to Westminster and points north and west.  Today, the Metro Subway parallels part of the track which crosses over North Ave. near today's Coppin State University.

  2. Is Coppin near the port of Baltimore? I'm sure that Western used to run coal to the docks in the old days. I'm not sure where CH is. I'd have to look on a map. If it's a passenger train station, then it was probably a war-time station, or used for connections to other railroads. Many stations were used to make connections to other mainline stations. Once passenger service drops off, they close the station. That's probably more likely, since you said "train station". Most passenger services went into the dumps by the late '60s due to the Interstate road system, and couldn't stay profitable. Small ones especially. Western was one of those, never a big railroad.
