Why does the Wifi turn off on Speedtouch 585 v6 when i use VOIP internet phone adapter (linksys)?

the VOIP adapter and a desktop are connected via LAN. My laptops are hooked up through WIFI. Everytime i recieve a call on VOIP, the wifi on my router stops responding. As soon as i hang up, it starts working again.

  1. Could be a few factors.

    It sounds like you have 3 or 4 devices on your network, so there could possibly be a data bottleneck.

    If your Router has QOS enabled, it may be giving highest data priority to the VoIP ATA.  Although, you want QOS to give highest priority to VoIP because it is real-time and can't tolerate delayed or dropped packets.

    Is your VoIP phone that is connected to the RJ-11 jack on the ATA a Cordless phone?  If so, is it 2.4 or 5.8 GHz phone?

    It is possilbe the cordless phone is causing RFI to the WiFi connection your laptops are relying on.

    Test with a corded phone connected to ATA.  If that reduces the problem, then just use corded phone, or get a DECT 6.0 phone which uses the dedicated 1.9 Ghz band.  DECT 6 should not interfere with Wifi connections.  In either case, always separate cordless phone base units from WiFi transmitters/receivers to reduce possibility of RFI between wireless devices.
