Question:

Why does the amp get hot? is that bad? and is there any way to fix that?

i just bought some MTX jack hammers and i opend my trunk after i had been using the subs and i felt the amp and it was hot... i want to know if i need to fix that or if i should just ignore it

  2. an amp getting hot is due to its inefficiency. the heat is lost power. the hotter an amp gets, the more it is either over worked, or just not that high of quality.

    i have a 1200w cadence A7 running at 1ohm....it is always cold to the touch.....but it is also 95% efficient ;-)

    efficiency plays a big role in amps. my A7 is only 1200w, but since its efficiency is 95%, that would be the same as running a 2400w amp that is 48%....that is why its output is that same as a hifonics hercules XX...within 0.2dB

    most amps are between 40% and 60% efficient.

    Those are cooling fins.

    The amp will get hot.  Its normal.
