Why does the blacktop get hot in the summer? Also, why does the color black attract more light than white does

The pavement gets really hot in the summer, and if you wear a black shirt in the summertime, you get hot and sweaty. Why is this?

When light falls on an object, it is either reflected, transmitted, or absorbed. Black objects appear dark because they absorb most of the light falling on them. The energy thus absorbed (light is a form of energy) makes the object heat up. If you wear white, it reflects more light than black, so you feel cooler.
