Why does the blood from my period smell like fish?

I`m only 13 & I got my period on my 13th birthday. I wasn't scared AT ALL. Should I have been? Anyway, I noticed as I was changing my pad that the blood smelled a little fishy. I'm still a virgin so it can't be an STD. Here are some other q's that i need answered [plz] i feel a little uncomforable talking about this...

Periods are irregular during your first few years because your body is readjusting to the hormone change. But your periods will probably never be exactly on time unless you're taking birth control - it's just how our bodies are. We don't have perfect biological clocks. I've had my period forever it seems and it was irregular at first, then I went on birth control for several years and it was perfectly on time, and now that I'm off birth control again it's completely unpredictable. I was two weeks late for my period last month, even.

Yes, it's perfectly normal to be worried or scared about your period the first few times. I remember when I first got mine I was so scared I almost puked - though that was probably a mixture of cramps as well.

It's normal for things to be a bit sore during your period - from your v****a to your b***s, etc. It's just hormones and your body changing.

During your period you should shower at least twice, at least that is what I do.  In the morning and at night before you go to bed especially if you are wearing pads all day long.  If you are already doing this then do you have an OBGYN?  if you suspect something is wrong then you should make an appointment.

Also you could have a yeast infection.  Virgins can get yeast infections.  Are you sure it is a fishy smell or just the smell of blood?

yeah its pretty normal. i mean its going to smell pretty bad because the blood has been on your pad for a while.

periods are different for every person, but i think for the first couple months it will be off.

yes it is normal for your v****a to hurt, because you are fatigue during your period.

the fishy smell just means you need to wash down there and take a shower, lol. it's normal.

also your periods being irregular just means that your body is getting  used to something new.

No, you shouldn't have been scared.

It always smells funny because its coming from inside your body. Notice how p**p and urine and vomit smell funny?

Periods are irregular during the first year or so because your body hasn't quite gotten used to you having your period yet.

You can be worried about it, but always always keep pads or tampons with you in your backpack or in your purse, just in case.

Your v****a may hurt during your period. And that is completely normal.   :]
