  1. A bird's natural thing to do is to sing! whether it's caged or not...

If it's caged, it may be singing because it is feeling lonely and wants something to entertain it.. or it may be singing because it is calling it's fellow mates or maybe calling it's girlfriend!

If it's not caged, it may also be singing to call other birds of it's same species!

  2. Because all birds sing.

It's not an instinct that can be lost simply because it has been domesticated.

  3. In hope that it might still fly.

  4. Ask Maya Angelou.  She knows.

  5. is this a trick question?

  6. I think birds sing for the same reason that we talk. That's the way of communicating with one another, I think most birds don't mind being in a cage, if they are treated well. My two parakeets get what they love or want. They get new toys often, then get a clean bath tub and food and water and treats whenever they like. Wild birds do not get that. So I don't really know why they sing, I just think it's because they're talking or entertaining themselves.
