Question:

Why does the chicken in frozen dinners always taste bad?

I've noticed that the chicken in the Healthy Choice, and the South Beach microwavable lunches taste NASTY. It can't be because it is frozen because I have had frozen chicken b*****s before and it doesn't taste like that c**p. Any insight?

  1. Well maybe they make it taste bad so you don't enjoy it so you don't eat  much and then you lose more weight.

  2. Yucky- When they put the live chickens in the freezer they go into shock and the adrenaline makes them taste bad. Also- taking the feathers off the frozen bird is difficult and leads to freezer burn bruises. They use ultra sharp knives to get through the frozen bird, but this leads to the chicken getting cut improperly.

From that point they take the frozen chicken and deliver it to Healthy Choice via carrier pigeon. Along the way the pigeon goes to the restroom and this sometimes contaminates the frozen dead bird.

Once it reaches the food processing plant the workers throw it into a giant cooker. They don't always have it totally clean, so that makes it yucky. Then they re-freeze the dead bird, and it really tastes nasty then.

Wadda say- I went big- so best answer???

  3. They use water injected chicken, and that process makes the chicken "plumper" because they have added water to it.  It also makes the chicken rubbery and tasteless.  Water doesn't have taste to contribute.

  4. its possibly not whole chicken peices such as the breast but more likely its bits of the "brown" meat from the wings, legs and thighs that have been all minced up and then shaped into pieces, its a manufacturers way of using cheaper meat.

  5. It's because in an assembly line production the meals are flash frozen and it changes the texture of the meat. The taste can be effected but the usual response is that the texture is funky.

  6. i agree, it does. i don't know why but i wonn't eat it either

  7. It's nasty because it's partially dehydrated (being frozen) and has had preservatives added to maintain freshness, which also depletes moisture and, essentially, taste.

  8. freezer burn. yuukkie!

  9. well duhh its frozen.. maybe u should heat it up :D nobody likes chicken-sicles.

  10. yeah, its because theyr frozen, you know how nasty processed meat is? the assembly lines have ****, blood, and sweat on them. Go watch fast food nation and youll never wanna eat a burger patty again..
