Why does the dtv converter box make the quality of my tv bad?

i just bought the dtv converter box and it's making the quality horrible. not only that but when i watch tv, the picture doesn't even fit my screen. why is this? is there any way to fix it? is it going to be like this forever?

There should be a button on your remote that will "zoom" the picture to fill your entire screen.    On the Zeneith and Insignia converter box, the button is labelled ZOOM.

Check out the directions that came with the box.

1. The TV quality is the same, it's just an upconverted signal, which means that it's no better resolution that it was before upconversion.

2. It will be okay when you watch a native HD program
