Question:

Why does the far left want to pass the fairness doctrine?

This doctrine would only apply to talk radio which has many conservative hosts. However it would not apply to the ultra liberal TV Stations (PBS, CNN, CBS, NBC, ABC), or the ultra liberal newspapers. Do the liberals next want to take away the right to have a different view point than them, because that is where it seems they are headed.

Isn't this also going against the first amendment which gives the right of free speech? This is forcing people to say something that they do not believe in. It is unconstitutional.

  1. Romare is wrong it is already in the works. And yes they do not want any conservative speaking. this is called communism

  2. could you please prove somehow that the left wants to pass it?

all I've heard is Rush say that the left wants to pass it?

not a lot of proof... they could easily pass it in the house, if that was their goal...

  3. The would like to control all medium. The internet is next.

  4. They don't.  No one on the left has called for this.

If you think I'm wrong, please post a reputable source.

  5. From a year ago... "U.S. Sen. Diane Feinstein, D-Calif., said Sunday she is "looking at" the possibility of reviving the fairness doctrine for U.S. broadcasters."

It's a conservative-dominated segment of the media, and the liberals cannot stand the fact that they are not only not in control, but that they cannot compete.  If they cannot compete, they think it's better to shut down the competing points of view completely.

  6. America is brainwashed by the right, and they like it that way

  7. So they can regain their monopoly on the disbursement of information. It's to silence the opposition. It's a way to halt free speech by using government bullies and thugs to shut down talk radio.

Anyone claiming this is not the case is just not fully aware of what's happening, right now, in the House sub-committee on communications

  8. The left has found no answer to compete with talk radio to date. They are distressed by its popularity based on the constant complaints they make against it. Since they cannot compete then the only option remaining is to silence. The left knows full well that most stations are not going to go to all the trouble of trying to present an equal time format especially in favor of content which will not generate ratings half of the time. This is one of the single greatest assaults on free speech in the history of our great republic.

Edit: To the people saying the left does not want the "Fairness Doctrine" the link below includes quotes from numerous Democratic leaders supporting it. Now if you want to argue that no one has actually introduced a bill to bring it back that would be correct, but denying they would like to have it  back just shows you are completely uninformed on the issue.
