Question:

Why does the general public expect politicians to have "solutions?"?

I don't get why people genuinely expect politicians to have the ability to solve all the problems of city/state/country/world. Does the public think it is even possible, or even if it is, appropriate?

  1. The government ain't gonna fix our lives, simple as that.  There are many people out there with no sense of personal responsibility that expect politicians and the government to cater to their every need and bail them out of every mistake that they make.  It is not appropriate at all to wait on the government to solve our problems unless we absolutely have no where else to turn (as in the case of a natural disasters).  As long as I have a functional brain and body, I don't need the government to do anything for me except defend the country from our enemies.

  2. Isn't that what we pay them for? To find solutions to the concerns presently facing this nation?

That's kind of what I've always thought.

  3. I think at best there are "ideas" that some think will solve problems.  Then each party packages them to "sell" to the American public.

Not always, but most of the time it's a power play and deal making.

I think they do have the ability to solve problems, but I think in some cases the best interests of the country get put behind the best interests of their respective parties.

I truly believe that is why the Democrats fought so hard to "stop" the war.  Their prime motivation was not to "bring the boys home".

Their prime motivation was to have the right to hang defeat around the Bush administration for this election.

It did not work, therefore there is barely a mention of the war. Instead it's the economy, which most people believe is a lot worse than it actually is.

It's all part of the game.  Get people to vote against someone else instead of voting for something .

  4. It's a liberal mentality.  Notice how people in the midwest solved their flooding problems but liberals in New Orleans still haven't even cleaned up the mess from a storm that rolled thru years ago let alone rebuild without government help.

It's not the general public, just those mentally deficient types who don't have the skills, experience or desire to care for themselves.

Hey, WHERES MY FREE FEMA TRAILER?

  5. I only vote for politicians who show a willingness to listen to MY solutions... I don't want them to have plans of their own.

  6. .....many crack heads in USA believe that their mental deficiencies, that causes them all their ills, are really cause by the government who won't help them pay their bills

    ....Socialize/Natonalize the crack-heads ....prizon communes?

...leave the moral, responsible ones of the USA citizenry to function as the Democratic phenomia the USA has always been....leading our world in high-quality work ethic, mangerial skills, and technology

(but please keep the USA made autos at home, those are excetionally bad quality autos compared to most every other car made in the world)

  7. They are elected  and paid to do a job,  work for the people in various aspects of govt mentioned, not blow our money and set up their own interests with their friends that will favor them when they are finished in office and will continue to collect more taxpayer dollars via pensions and life long medical, that Amercans dont even have.

Yes its possible , and appropriate, and unfortunately they all do not feel that way, and its hard for the good ones to actually do it when they are surrounded with those not wanting to work on the taxpayers agenda .  Some people have real lintegrity and expect no less of others, its why they beleive in others and are angered when they are taken advantage of.  That really tells the tale.

  8. The government (in my opinion) is not there to fix every problem. It is there to keep order and safety and some prevention of problems. If we try too hard to fix things they usually end up becoming worse. However if we don't enforce the regulations we have now it will become bad too.

  9. Because politicians tell us they have solutions.

Like when R.Nixon had a secret plan to get us out of Viet Nam

  10. What else should they do?  They're overpaid as it is.

  11. they are usually part of the problem, that is why i think i will vote libertarian (bob barr) this november

  12. best they solve them problems or its a military draft !!!!

  13. It's a mystery to me.  They may solve/handle  some of the problems, but not all.  Nothing even to bragg about.  They may sign off on a few Bills/Policies, but there is no follow ups.  Some Bills may not be approved, but they will never announce it to the public. Everything is designated to people under them.  By that time, another Re-Election is on the way and more promises.  One Politician, millions and millions of people to try an please.  Impossible!
