Really, Why does the goverment want the airways free by no longer allowing UHF & VHS signals in space? (effective 2/2009) Does anyone know what they are planning?

  1. I bet they will auction these frequencies off for commercial purposes. Most likely they will be sold for less than they are worth and perhaps give a windfall to a handful of corporations.

It's too bad that the media has chosen to maximize profits. That usually interferes with any mission of informing the public and provide public service. The people lose and the corporations make more money off the tax payers.

Did you know that a few years ago, 60% of the corporations paid  no income taxes?

  2. so they can communicate better with the aliens.

  3. It's because digital broadcast channels take up a lot less bandwidth that analogue .. so once they have all the analogue turned off they can SELL the bandwidth for digital use ..

  4. If they have found a way to limit UHF and VHF signals in space we have bigger problems.  Let's see, TV signals (VHF) have been beaming off the earth for over 50 years so how would the gov't stop them? Hmmmm?

  5. I've thought it was pretty weird that they made it a LAW everything has to be digital.  I just assumed it was so they can track everything we watch and another form of control!  AMERICA isn't free anymore!

  6. so they dont mislead airplane and make them crash

  7. Actually, the government is "selling" the airways and making more money by forcing all the big bandwidth hogs (TV broadcasters)  to go digital - which requires less bandwidth, so more companies can share the available frequencies.
