The Jewish Day is sunset to sunset, in eight equal parts.

The name derived from the patriarch Judah, at first given to one belonging to the tribe of Judah or to the separate kingdom of Judah (2Ki 16:6; 2Ki 25:25; Jer 32:12; Jer 38:19; Jer 40:11; Jer 41:3), in contradistinction from those belonging to the kingdom of the ten tribes, who were called Israelites.

During the Captivity, and after the Restoration, the name, however, was extended to all the Hebrew nation without distinction (Esth 3:6, 10; Dan 3:8, 12; Ezra 4:12; Ezra 5:1, 5).

Originally this people were called Hebrews (Gen 39:14; Gen 40:15; Ex 2:7; Ex 3:18; Ex 5:3; 1Sa 4:6, 9), but after the Exile this name fell into disuse. But Paul was styled a Hebrew (2Co 11:22; Php 3:5).

The history of the Jewish nation is interwoven with the history of Palestine and with the narratives of the lives of their rulers and chief men. They are now (1897) dispersed over all lands, and to this day remain a separate people, "without a king, and without a prince, and without a sacrifice, and without an image (R.V. 'pillar,' marg. 'obelisk'), and without an ephod, and without teraphim" (Hos 3:4). Till about the beginning of the present century (1800) they were everywhere greatly oppressed, and often cruelly persecuted; but now their condition is greatly improved, and they are admitted in most European countries to all the rights of free citizens. In 1860 the "Jewish disabilities" were removed, and they were admitted to a seat in the British Parliament. Their number in all is estimated at about six millions, about four millions being in Europe.

There are three names used in the New Testament to designate this people,

(1.) Jews, as regards their nationality, to distinguish them from Gentiles. (2.) Hebrews, with regard to their language and education, to distinguish them from Hellenists, i.e., Jews who spoke the Greek language. (3.) Israelites, as respects their sacred privileges as the chosen people of God. "To other races we owe the splendid inheritance of modern civilization and secular culture; but the religious education of mankind has been the gift of the Jew alone."

    —Easton's Illustrated Dictionary

Moses was not sent to spread anything but to call the Hebrew back to God and lead them from Egypt.  to give the Hebrew God's law and no one else.

    He was not an Evangelical.

You should educate yourself more before forming opinions.  An uninformed opinion is the most worthless thing there is.

  2. idk where you heard that but judaism is not a nation. you might be thinking of israel but israel is considered a state.  and moses wouldnt go to h**l because there is no h**l.

  3. its a religion and nation and moses braught the torah down to give it to the children of isreal as long as non-jews follow the seven noahide laws they have a portion in the next world

  4. JEWS ARE A LOST TRIBE, NO IDENTITY OR COUNTRY, THEY STOLE MUSLIM LAND.

  5. G-d promised the Jews the "land of milk and honey". Moses came to distribute the milk and honey equally amongst the warring "12 tribes of Israel". Most of them took the milk and honey and escaped to Ethiopia, others converted into Christianity and Islam.

  6. Because we are a nation. We are all descended from the same people, and that makes us a nation. We are also a religion and culture, because even someone who is not a descendant of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob can convert and join if he wants to.

God gave the Torah to the Jewish people through Moses. It was not meant for the entire world. The rest of the world does not have to embrace Judaism in order to secure a place in heaven. The afterlife is for everyone who is a good person and follows the laws they are bound to. The Jews have to follow 613 laws, while non-Jews only need to follow 7. So the Torah officially is the book of the Jewish people, and only they need follow the 613 commandments. The rest of the world does not need to.

  7. They consider themselves a people "nation" and a religion, and jews dont believe in h**l

  8. Judaism is a religion, and being Jewish means one is part of the Jewish nation, as it is also an ethnicity.

According to Judaism, all people who lead moral lives merit heaven, regardless of their religious beliefs.

One does not have to be Jewish to merit heaven, and we do not believe everyone has to be Jewish.

    PEACE:)

  9. jews is religion but Israel suppose to be the nation

  10. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS H*LL IN JUDAISM

Israel is a nation and the national religion in Israel IS Judaism

  11. Judaism can be thought of as being simultaneously a religion, a nationality and a culture.

Throughout the middle ages and into the 20th century, most of the European world agreed that Jews constituted a distinct nation. This concept of nation does not require that a nation have either a territory nor a government, but rather, it identifies, as a nation any distinct group of people with a common language and culture. Only in the 19th century did it become common to assume that each nation should have its own distinct government; this is the political philosophy of nationalism. In fact, Jews had a remarkable degree of self-government until the 19th century. So long as Jews lived in their ghettos, they were allowed to collect their own taxes, run their own courts, and otherwise behave as citizens of a landless and distinctly second-class Jewish nation.

Of course, Judaism is a religion, and it is this religion that forms the central element of the Jewish culture that binds Jews together as a nation. It is the religion that defines foods as being kosher and non-kosher, and this underlies Jewish cuisine. It is the religion that sets the calendar of Jewish feast and fast days, and it is the religion that has preserved the Hebrew language.

If Judaism an ethnicity? In short, not any more. Although Judaism arose out of a single ethnicity in the Middle East, there have always been conversions into and out of the religion. Thus, there are those who may have been ethnically part of the original group who are no longer part of Judaism, and those of other ethnic groups who have converted into Judaism.

If you are referring to a nation in the sense of race, Judaism is not a nation. People are free to convert into Judaism; once converted, they are considered the same as if they were born Jewish. This is not true for a race.

  12. Firstly Jews don't have the notion that if somebody is not Jewish they will go to h**l. Anyone who keeps the seven Noahide laws has a portion in the World to come. That is why Judaism discourages conversion (it's not banned but discouraged)

Secondly Jews are both a nation and a religion. The word Nation (Goy) is used a number of times to refer to the Jewish people in prayer.

  13. Jews are a nation with a religion called Judaism. That is, Judaism is the religion of the Jewish People. To become Jewish, you would first have to be a good person, a fact which many Jews take for granted, but it is by virtue of our ancestors' piety that we are Jewish. VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: If the Jews were ALL Zaddiqim G'murim, we wouldn't need Judaism, but then again, H' gave us His Torah realizing that Am Yisrael would KEEP ITS COMMANDMENTS--af al pi sh'chatah, Yisrael hu! Conversely, it's the Torah which KEEPS US Jewish! The Torah guards those who guard it! The Nation of Israel is a nation with a PARTICULAR EXPERIENCE which no other nation has, and those sharing THAT experience are Jews. JEWS DON'T RUN AFTER OTHERS TO CONVERT THEM TO JUDAISM! Judaism does not claim that you have to be Jewish to be a good person!

  14. We are first a nation, then a religion but we are both.

The word Jew actually comes from the tribe of Judah which was one of the 12 tribes of Israel.

Israel was a nation, then we got the Torah and followed it, non Jews are the ones who began calling us Jews after the big tribe of Judah but they referred to all Israelites who were following the Torah, that's how the words Judaism as a religion has formed.

Secondly, moses came to spread Judaism to the Jews not to other nations, we do not believe that you must be a Jew in order to achieve a place in heaven.

If you are not a Jew all you have to do is follow the 7 laws of Noah

       1. Prohibition of Idolatry: You shall not have any idols before God.

       2. Prohibition of Murder: You shall not murder. (Genesis 9:6)

       3. Prohibition of Theft: You shall not steal.

       4. Prohibition of Immoral sexual acts.

       5. Prohibition of Blasphemy: You shall not blaspheme God's name.

       6. Prohibition of Cruelty to Animals: Do not eat flesh taken from an animal while it is still alive. (Genesis 9:4)

       7. Requirement to have just Laws: You shall set up an effective judiciary to enforce the preceding six laws fairly.
