Why does the left feel Katrina was a Federal Government failure?

Katrina was a natural disaster, the local government had the resources on hand to evacuate the city. And yet everyone points their finger at President Bush and FEMA as the reason for all the suffering and loss. Poor foresight, a corrupt local government and nature are responsible.

  1. So do you honestly think FEMA handled Katrina correctly?  That's laughable within itself.  Why do you think it wasn't a failure when officials from the government claim it was....Lol....

  2. The failure was on the inhabitants that did not leave. Remember the dust bowl days of the 1930s? Those poor people lost everything and received nothing! Until the government started to put people to work to get the economy going and then prepared for WWII, there was this thing called the Great Depression.

Why does the government have to be responsible for every person and the weather?

  3. They should of blamed the mayor, then the governor, they went right to the president.Me I blame the people, why? everyone knew a major storm was coming,so why not leave? They left when the water was chest high. Please spare me the[ these are poor people speech],I do not buy it.These are the same people who  always rely on the government for:welfare, food stamps, public housing. So when they have to help themselves they don't know how.

  4. Because all of the far left wing whining liberal idiots were not willing to take the responsibility for their own poor manage of the situations. The wanted to blame Bush. There were no right answers as far as they where concerned just whining and being a victim.

You have to ask your self why all of the farmers in Midwest who were equally devastated by floors aren't complaining? They have taken responsibility for their own well being and are not relying in the government to bail them out.

  5. You just don't understand and you never will. Bush didn't have the resources to evacuate all of New Orleans, and there's evidence. case in point, the whole city didn't evacuate. Hundreds and thousands of people died because of starvation, drowning, and other reasons. Bush wasn't our savior. He didn't come on the first or second day, he flew over new orleans on the third day. But when Rita came, he flew to Texas the day BEFORE the storm hit. Yes Katrina was a natural disaster, but the levee's failed us, which is a man made disaster. It was regulated by the ARMY core of engineers. I believe that this was a man made and natural disaster. don't get me wrong, some parts of new orleans government are corrupt, but the same for washington. Trust me there were some under the table deals up there. Before you start accusing and talking about people, you need to live through it. I am a victim of katrina, I had nine feet of water in my house and it could have been saved if the man made levees would have more researched and funded, rather than funding this pointless war where billions of dollars a day are being lost. FEMA was a joke, a lot of people got paid a few years later. All I'm trying to say is you need to get your facts straight and stop jumping to opinions, and talk to people who have been through it or have been affected by it.
