.I just don't understand. Where I live that would be cool. yesterday at 2pm the bank sign said 116 and at a friend hous it read 122. I didnt hear about that on the news. Even the local news will mak a big deal if it hit 105 in phoenix yet ignore the 117 by my city, Don';t get me wrong I am not complaining about the heat. Why does the media say how devestating the 100 degree heat is in the midwest. Yet where I live 120 is no big deal & ignored. That dry heat thing doesn't cut it 120 is 120 no mateer what it is hot

  1. sometimes the banks and home weather stations are off by about 5 or 10 degrees. it was probably more like 104 or so in your area, which is still extremely hot.

it probably wasnt 122 becuase the hottest temp ever recorded on the planet is 136. to find out go to http://weather.com , and where it says zip code type in you zip code or city.

then on the next page on the top it will have a few links, some are tommorow, 10-day, yesterday, and month. click on month. then it wil tell you temps you have had this whole month.

sometimes when you live in a small town they dont realize the temps. you should listen to a local weather station to see what is going on in your area

  2. omg! that is like so hot  where i live! we consider 70 hot. i live in minnesota

  3. the media focuses on large cities, this shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.

If you live somewhere like western arizona 110+ heat is normal, it's not news. The people there should be used to it.

It goes both ways. Here in Chicago snow in winter is normal, and it's kind of funny when a southern city like atlanta gets an inch of snow and they have to close schools and everyone makes a big deal out of it.

  4. Where do you live?  I wouldn't worry about it.  The weather channel and stuff focus more on big cities.  Do you live in a lesser known place?  I live in Virginia and i consider 75 degrees hot. It bothers me when people say 80 degrees is nice.

  5. I know what you mean.  It must be because it's out of the norm.  I hear Letterman howling about it being over 90 in NYC, but, though it's not as high as what you get, we're over 100 every day here in Dallas.  And it's humid, which is worse than dry heat, but as you said, 120 is 120 and I don't want to be outside.  All I've got to say is, I better get a good winter out of this!  LOL

  6. I cant' stand it either! The midwest always gets hot during the summer, and the people that live out there always expect it. Also, the media only cares about the large cities, so if you live in a smaller town, you'll geti gnored. Four summers ago, while I was in a different state from where I live, it went up to 109 in the town I was in, but in the state's capitol, it only went up to 96 and the media was talkin about that 96 degree high! I was pissed! Where I was, the temperature was 13 degrees higher compared to the capitol!

Besides, a lot of thing the media does these days is quite stupid anyway.

  7. Because they can.
