  1. For the same reason that Hillary Clinton gets referred to by her first name and not her title or last name.

    It's gender bias in the media.

"Sarah Palin" sounds more rebelious.  Just one of us folks - comapred to Governor Palin.  Vey official - no hockey mom there.  An insider etc.  No,. they want to keep it fresh and sounding like she just rose up from working class America to be the mother of all Hockey Moms - Saaaaaa-rahhhhhh PAYYYYYY-LINNNNNNNN!  (Frantic roars of approval.)  See how easy it is to manipulate folks?
