What kind of milk is it? And why does it taste sweeter? Like the ones that you get at the grocery store in the Philippines... does anyone know what I'm talking about?

  1. Milk, meat, eggs, poultry products, fruits and vegetables, all have different tastes depending upon the country of their origin and sometimes, a specific region or place.

This is because all living things, which includes animals and plants, consume food that is locally available. While cows eat grass and plants that are available in their locality, plants derive nutrients from soil on which they grow.

The taste of these types of food is determined by the concentration of minerals present in them. And this is usually decided by the most basic factor- the soil. This is the primary reason for milk from Philippines to taste different than that from USA.

There are other reasons too. In some countries, the milk packing companies remove the milk fat and cream to sell these seperately. All companies around the world process their milk in different ways, which also alters the taste. Storing milk also changes its taste.

BTW..the best milk I've tasted was in the Netherlands.

  2. What kind of milk did you try? In the Philippines there are powdered, fresh, pasteurized, evaporized, condensed milk, etc. And you can get those anywhere.

Milk here is quite sweet partly because of custom. Filipinos naturally has a sweet tooth. Milk companies use natural sweeteners to lessen the cause of diabetes.

    Hope this helps.

  3. There is this thing called nido, its basically a mix and looks like milk, it tastes soo good i tell you, try it some time... Make it really hot too good in the winter days : )

  4. fresh milk in the Philippines comes from happy contented cows.

  5. The US has better milk.

Philippines pretty much just has everything sweet. They very diabetic people. lmao jk. but seriously everything is too sweet =/

    <--- half filipino, half american

  6. I don't really know what to say. It could be a lot of reasons.

It could be that the temperature difference affects the taste. Or maybe the feeling of drinking milk in a warmer place is better which would psychologically alter your perception.

It could also be the breed of the cows and what they eat. Where they were grown would make a lot of difference.

As for the sweeter taste, I could not answer that.

  7. because.. its GALING SA DODO NG COOOW. :D

  8. I've never taken milk from the grocery stores in the Philippines that did not taste like the ones I get from the grocery stores in Riyadh.   Commercial milk is commercial milk anywhere you get.

What I do miss is fresh carabao milk!   In Orion, Bataan which is my ancestral home,   people used to supply us this big bottle of the stuff every morning.   Nothing beats the taste, I tell ya!   Never mind all the bacteria they're talkin' about!

  9. it has cream in it . In usa it's seperated and sold as a coffee sweetner. Go buy half and half at the store and drink it. It's the same thing. By the way milk is safer in the usa because it is pastuerized that filters out diseases llike TB. Skim milk is also watered down and takes out even more cream or fat but is healthier and less tasty.

  10. because milk from philippines has no preservative at all, it so natural and it also fresh and comes from a native cows. native cows eating natural food.
