Why does the moon change colors in the fall?

  1. It doesn't change colors in relation to the season. When it is seen close to the horizon, its seen thru a thicker section of our atmosphere which makes it appear more orange/reddish.

    People talk about the 'harvest Moon' which is simply a full moon that occurrs at a certain time in the fall but really anytime the moon is seen near the horizon it will appear tinted orange/reddish.


  2. The fairies paint it 'coz they get tired of the colors.
