Question:

Why does the paint keep coming off my walls?

I painted the interior of my house, like I have before, only this time it's like it's not wanting to take. It has been 2 months and I tried cleaning fingerprints off walls with a damp cloth and some of the paint came off with it, then it left the wall looking shiny in those areas. What causes this? I used the same brand of paint as I always do, and I primed first. Any ideas?

  1. If you have used another type of paint on your walls before like an oil base the paint that you have now used will all peel off like a very bad sun burn , wash all the walls down with TSP and remove whatever comes off  sand it down and rewash the walls again , then prime the walls and repaint the whole room! I know because when we bought the house it was freshly painted and I washed the walls down and the very same thing happened to us , it's a lot of work!

Semi gloss!  that was it ! the very same thing that was on our walls, , prime and repaint,  if you use it without the primer will peel off like skin ,again!

  2. Sounds like you used  non scrubbable flat paint. there are flat paints that are not just washable but the can be scrubbed.
