  1. the rich make money off of the poor =give them their just do.Who works for the wealthy and gets paid very little, argue over any wage increase, dont appreciate their hard work and pretty much have your attitude about things?

  2. The answer: The poor can rise above the level they are at by working hard just like everyone else.  Don't give me that "it's not fair" c**p either.  Life isn't fair, get over it.  The more you complain about how oppressed you are the more time you are wasting where you could be working your way out of your current situation.  If you want something your have to work for it.  Don't expect the government or anyone else to hold your hand and help you.

  3. They do not but the government does not think that way. I was embarrassingly poor growing up and worked hard to not be and now I'm not. The difference between being poor and having money is not luck it's hard work. Taking personal responsibility and not a poor envious attitude is the key to success.

  4. It's not about who deserves what. Even Socrates said that the gap between rich and poor needs to stay within a certain range.

I know some bums that vote Republican and blame democrats even though they directly benefit from Democrat programs. How is that for irony??

The haves must help the have nots. That philosophy is preached in religions. There is a reason. It feels good to help people. Life is not black and white.

No one likes these people. They exist. But if you look a little deeper then you can see the factors that cause these people to exist. If we target the factors then it can save us money in the long run. We are too busy living for today and spending tomorrow's money (debt) instead of making wiser decisions.

It's selfishness basically. We want to benefit now. We don't want others to benefit later unless we can too.

I don't think most people really want to be rich. I think it has more to do with control over their lives and to be able to spend time with people they love and care about as well as do things they care and love. Don't you want that? It can't just be all about money, can it?  Do you have love and real relationships in your life? Are you friends fair weather? If you lost all you had then would they still be there for you??

I can say that mine would. I've lost the dead weight. (friends that were not friends)

edit: You're 16 and have much to learn. Wait until you get out on in the world, really. I had a job when I was your age. I began babysitting as soon as I could. (11)  I'm 34 now. I have become more liberal over the years. I have an MBA. The rich don't necessarily deserve all they get. I can tell you some stories, personal and ones that I've heard from others. It's what really has brought me to this point. Knowledge is power.

edit: There is a lot of idealism here that does not match with the reality.  But the fact of the matter is that you must take control of your life and do the best you can with what you have been given. If you have a disability then you have it. It's not that simple that if you work hard then you will achieve. That doesn't always correlate and it cannot. That is what I have come to realize. Some people get ahead by cheating, lying, and stealing. For an individual, do the best you can but if you don't succeed even though you work hard and do your absolute best then don't beat yourself up if you aren't as successful as you imagined. Don't listen to the haters that want to blame you.

  5. Why do the rich deserve the money they have?  Are you going to claim that they work as hard as your average 40-hour-a-weeker?  How about the family of two that both parents have multiple jobs?

Yes, there are poor who take advantage of the system.  And we all know there are rich who take advantage of the system too.

From the standpoint of society's survival, do you think that the very richest would stop doing what they were doing even if they had to pay 75% taxes?  Yes, we all know they would be unhappy about it ... but would they stop?

Forget "fairness" here because it really depends on how you define it.  If you define it as "effort in => riches out", the current system is extremely unfair to the poor.

Capitalism sucks.  Socialism is worse.  Socialism fails because there is little incentive to over-achieve.  However, 75% taxes is still 25% non-taxes.  That is still more incentive than socialism.

As we have all noted, the rich get poorer, the poor get poorer.  Even the very richest (Gates and Buffet) acknowledge that.

"jobless bums" is a nice picture, but it is the exception.

  6. Christina L is an idiot, don't listen to her. I don't come from a rich background, and have had to work for jobs and my money. I worked throughout high school to earn money, but had very little when I was forced to move out at 18. I CHOSE to go to college and I CHOSE a degree that was considered difficult, but the pay is nice after graduation. I had to wrok 40 hours a week or more WHILE taking a full schedule at college. No grants were given to me. No money from my parents. I was on my own completely. Now, after graduating I have a good job that I EARNED, and make decent money. And I still attend college in order to improve my knowledge and maybe get a better job in the future.

If I can do it, so can the countless bums on the street, and everyone else that is complaining about money, or jobs, or anything. People are only unemployed because they refuse to accept any job they can get, and set their standards too high. There are so many jobs available, it's really disgusting everyone is not employed. I have NEVER been in a situation that I couldnt find a job with ease, even if that job is just working at Walmart, or McDonalds, landscaping, or whatever.

I  completely agree with you, the poor don't deserve my money. They only deserve a chance to work hard like I did and earn their own money. Yes, there are some rich people that were just given a free ride, but the majority of us EARNED where we are, and DESERVE to be here. If you don't like it, go to college and get a job.

  7. What about your college years? did you go to a land grant university did you get pell grants? all of that the taxpayers dollars. The point is its called living in an industirialized country. Paying more taxes helps everyone else to have the oppurtunity that you did to get your spoiled @$$ through school and be somewhat successful.  If yoy don't want to pay taxes and do your civic duty. then move to a new country and tell me how much your paying there.

Why is it that the upper middle class always feels like they are the rich who are getting taxed YOUR UPPER MIDDLE CLASS not  rich.  hey here's an idea how about we don't tax the top 10% wealthiest people in the country. Rembering that they make more in a year than some make in a lifetime and just see how inflation and everthing else get blown out of proportion

  8. Okay here goes....I am a 36 year old who is by no means wealthy, I dont have a college degree and in my opinin work in a field that is very underpaid across the board. That said my pay comes from a combination of tax money and billing for services. I work in EMS so I can tell you without a doubt that there are wayyyy too many people onthe dole who should not be. They have no intention or desire to work as long as they can get their handouts from uncle sam. I work for my money and I believe that jsut because someone has more than me, they shouldnt have to pay 50 cents on the dollar to pay for bloated mismanaged social welfare just because they can afford it. The wealthy in this country already pay more taxes than the rest of us and it wouold be a h**l of alot more if the companies that give most of the rest of us jobs didnt get incentives and breaks to keep those jobs in the area. Everyone is complaining about outsourcing and losing jobs....wanna see more of it? raise taxes on the wealthy. More jobs wil go to foreign countries. Sounds to me like there are alot of have nots on here bitter about the haves and what they get. Doesnt matter if they worked for it or inherited it...someone in their family had the smarts and the work ethic to make the American dream work for them. If you want to be like that quit whining and come up with something that will make your fortune for you and your family too. Im all for helping people who need help, but cmon, lets get the loafers of the dole, and quit whining about someone actually being successful. To finish I agree with the poster.

  9. Wow.  The world really is full of retards.

  10. I agree with you and I'm not even close to rich...more like lower middle class. I do not agree with all the welfare programs out there and lazy people sitting around wanting a free ride in life, or wishing they will be rich someday, or hoping they will win the lotto. I laugh at the other peoples answers. They are probably the same people hoping and wishing to be rich, but fail to make a change by education and hard work. Not all rich people were born with a golden spoon in there mouths and why should rich people give "just do" to poor people. WORK FOR IT YOURSELF!!!! It's called being an entrepreneur. Take the time to educate yourself about opening a business, investing your money to make more money, what the new trends are in business, the tax system, etc. If there was no rich, there would be no jobs for the poor and middle class. Make the change yourself if you don't want to be poor or middle class.
