Question:

Why does the pro-abortion crowd use the term "pro-choice" when they are clearly referring to abortion?

In other words, the word choice refers to two or more options. Therefore, it would seems dishonest to describe ones position as "pro-choice" when that individual is clearly in support of the option of abortion. Would it not be more accurate to describe ones support of abortion as "pro-abortion". If I support adoption as well as birth control and simple personal responsibility, am I not also pro-choice?

  1. Pro Choice means they are for women having the choice to abort the pregnancy, unlike Pro Abortion, which supports women aborting pregnancy. May I add that I am ANTI CHOICE and ANTI ABORTION, you chose to create the baby, you choose to have it, even if you have to give it up for adoption, I mean, really think, it's killing a tiny defenseless baby. What if your parents would have chose to abort you?

  2. they believe its a choice, there for, they are for the choice rather than thinking it as an obligation of life.

  3. Same reason the anti-choice crowd uses right to life.

  4. because it is not pro abortion, it is pro woman's choice to have it or not.

  5. Yes choice means you have the right to choose, if you don't believe in abortion, fine don't have one that's should be a persons choice, I personally believe people should be way more careful if they don't want a pregnancy, unfortunately the anti abortionists don't want you to have the ability to choose. To describe a position as "pro abortion" would seemingly mean the exact opposite of "anti abortion" which means you're going to go out and picket and scream and yell to force people to "have" an abortion, as opposed to not have one, and I don't really see that happening, so I think the pro choice statement is acurate.

  6. ummm.... I think your confused, we don't go up to random mothers-to-be and tell them they  should get an abortion, we also don't pressure people who don't want the baby but would rather adopt to abort.  Many of us (like me) think abortion is wrong, but since we think other people should have the freedom to make a different CHOICE we are pro-CHOICE.

we call ourselves pro-choice to glorify it.  simple and plain, same reason you call yourself pro-life, don't deny it.

  7. It makes them feel better about supporting the killing of the unborn. They can hide behind the word "choice" and pretend that somehow this makes it okay. It's all semantics meant to distract from the horrific reality that we are killing our own children, and those children are denied their "choice" each and every day.

I read an article about the recent trend in Hollywood (with the younger Spears girl having a baby and the Juno movie) to show young girls "keeping" their babies. The so called "pro-choice" group are upset because this gives young girls the idea that giving the unborn child life is a good thing. In other words they are "pro-choice" as long as the unplanned pregnancy is terminated, they do not support keeping the baby. This makes them pro-abortion.

  8. You answered it yourself when you replaced the word "choice" with "option".

It means the same...go back and read it with "choice"

  9. You haven't really thought the question through, have you.

Pro choice= in favour of the woman's choice as to whether to have her baby or not.

    /shakes head wearily

  10. It's because they are really in favor of choice.  Unlike the anti-choice crowd.  Let the woman decide.

However, much better would be a movement that makes abortion un-necessary.  The social conditions that we have imposed on ourselves (or for which we have been brainwashed by religion) still make abortion an appealing choice for woman "stuck with a problem".

Remove the conditions that make pregnancy a problem, and the "need" for abortion will disappear.

Unfortunately, the religious zealots do not want that, as they need pregnancy to remain a "sign of sin".  That is why they will also be against birth control and, in some areas, against s*x education (how will you catch someone sinning if you teach them how to avoid getting caught?).

Contrary to popular belief, until the third quarter of the 20th century, abortion was not considered murder by the Christian religions.  It was a sin because "it allowed a woman to hide her sin from her husband".

  11. You are free to make a choice as everyone should. It is not your right to make a choice for someone else.

  12. Because they're psychologically unable to refer to themselves as pro-abortion because deep down they know it is murder of a human life.  So instead they use a politically term, it helps ease their guilt.
