Why does the quality of my videos reduces gradually after transfering it to my PC?

I have a Sony Digital 8 DCR-TRV270 Handycam. I've had this camera for about 3 years now and the quality dropped really bad. The point is, when I preview what I taped on the camera, the quality is good, but when I transfer the videos to my PC the quality reduces gradually. Maybe it has something to do with my camera, I don't know if I should clean the lens or something. I'm pretty new at this and this has always been a problem but now it's starting to drive me crazy because the quality is getting worst and worst. So basically, video quality while previewing on camera: good. Video quality while previewing on the computer: awful. I would appreciate any help whatsoever. Thanks.

  1. Hey Marina,

First off! Are you using windows movie maker? dump it, that's the problem, you need a more professional editing software like Vagas, or Adobe Premiere, get more tips on my web guide about transferring your video to your computer...

  2. you should consider buying a DVD copy machine and put it directly on a DVD then when you add it to your computer your text and vids will be the best they can be, have your video card replaced  an upgrade to Adobe Photo shop 6 will cure all or most of your download probs,

  3. Can you describe what you're seeing when you say "the quality reduces gradually" - is the video jerky, are the colours wrong, does it appear blurred?  The only problem I could explain would be a jerky video - that would suggest a problem with your hard drive.   Try checking that it doesn't need defragging and that DMA is enabled.

  4. well it all depends on what type/sort of computer u hav.because some old computers might not have the right things that new computers have like a graphics card for example.or it could simply be that uv had ur camera for a certain amount of time so the camera improves but really it hasn't.hope i helped
