  1. One day is her actual birthdate and it's a private,friend-family only celebration, while the other is a public ceremonial salute. It's called Trooping the Colour:

    From http://www.royal.gov/uk

    "TROOPING THE COLOUR

The Sovereign's birthday is officially celebrated by the ceremony of Trooping the Colour on a Saturday in June.

Although The Queen was born on 21 April, it has long been the tradition to celebrate the Sovereign's birthday publicly on a day in the summer, when good weather is more likely.

Trooping the Colour is carried out by fully trained and operational troops from the Household Division (Foot Guards and Household Cavalry) on Horse Guards Parade in Whitehall, watched by members of the Royal Family, invited guests and members of the public.

This military ceremony dates back to the early eighteenth century or earlier, when the colours (flags) of the battalion were carried (or 'trooped') down the ranks so that they could be seen and recognised by the soldiers.

Since 1748, this parade has also marked the Sovereign's official birthday. From the reign of Edward VII onwards, the Sovereign has taken the salute in person at Trooping the Colour.

During the ceremony, The Queen is greeted by a Royal salute and carries out an inspection of the troops.

After the massed bands have performed a musical 'troop', the escorted regimental colour is carried down the ranks.

The Foot Guards and the Household Cavalry then march past The Queen, and the King's Troop, Royal Horse Artillery, rank past.

The Queen rides in a carriage back to Buckingham Palace at the head of her Guards, before taking the salute at the Palace from a dais. The troops then return to barracks.

The Queen then joins other members of the Royal Family on the balcony for a fly-past by the Royal Air Force.

The Queen has attended Trooping the Colour every year of her reign, except in 1955 when a national rail strike cancelled the event."

England's Royalty is well-known for it's showy ceremonies and many people like it.And The Queen isn't the only person to have more than one celebration of her birthday.I've attended many friend's public parties and have found out that they also have private family-only celebrations as well;they also go out to a restaurant and go see a play and have a party!

  2. She doesn't have two birthdays, she just has a public celebration and a day when she can do things she enjoys with the people she loves. Come on, who would want to spend their birthday sitting in a parade in the rain? It'd be way more fun to do whatever you wanted on your real birthday.

  3. u do not have to worry date of royalty an dmonarchy are not over in Britain

It has been said that in future there will be only 5 kings in the world

.....4 in pack of cards and 5th in England ............ LoL

  4. Yeah it is kind of ridiculous to have two birthdays. If I were a monarch, I would feel like the nation is trying to remind me twice how old I am getting... espeically at the Queen's age.

The Queen's actual birthday is on 21 April, she was born on 21 April 1926. It has long been customary to celebrate the Sovereign’s birthday publicly on a day during the summer, when better weather is more likely.

Since 1805, the Sovereign’s 'official' summer birthday has been marked by the Trooping the Colour ceremony, normally held on the second Saturday in June. It is also marked by the flying of the Union flag on government buildings, a 42-gun salute and the publication of the birthday honours list. No particular ceremony is held on The Queen's true birthday, although the Union Flag is flown on public buildings.

  5. Simple - one is her real birthday and the other is for the day that she became Queen (acceded to the throne).

Either that or she is a schizophrenic with 2 people inside lol

  6. She wanted another one, no really she did!!

  7. I'm guessing the one, official "Queen's birthday" was probably started to honor an earlier queen, probably Queen Victoria.  Then Liz has her own celebration with her family like a regular person.

  8. One day is for when she gets older in age and the next birthday is the day in which she'll age a year!!!!!
