how does race affect the opportunities of people?

Well if you live in an area that doesn't like people of your nationality it can mean you won't get a job or a good position in a job, people can call you racial slurs, you can just be over all rejected.

its not about the question of race but its more on the ignorant stereotypes that people's opportunities affect the most.
