Why does the smell of Poo from our own bodies not smell as offensive as other peoples?

I am serious to this question, many people can go to the toilet, do number 2's, and although the smell may not be good, it is quite tollerable. On the other hand, if someone walks in to use the toilet after someone else has made a smell, why is this so much more offensive to the senses. The same goes for farts? Any ideas?

  1. I am going to agree with super jew. As a baby we pooed all the time and just kind of got used to it. Like how if you live with a cat for a couple years you eventually tolerate the smell of the litter box, then you go on vacation or something and come back and it hits you in the face and smells horrible.

  2. We get so used to the scent of our own bodies that we stop smelling our own scent, same thing with poo.

  3. Are you sure about that? I can't stand my own farts, it seriously makes me sick lmao, and it smells worse then other people's.
