take a look at this web site:

go the "eligibility" and you will see that iowa is one of a few states that won't allow their people to win any prizes. What is the logic in this? I know there was a federal law passed in the last few years that restricts online gambling, but since fantasy sports is considered a skill it is still allowed and is not considered gambling, so this must be a state law and the suits in des moines must still consider this an evil endeavor. Why does the state think they know what is best for people by not letting them win anything? It is kind of ironic that the government will still allow people to pay the web site, play and contribute to the pool of money, but just not win anything. Will the state come over and teach my kids proper ettiquette at the dinner table too? Please...Tell me how I am wrong.

  1. Sorry to tell ya, most gambling games are classified as games of skill.  Heard of poker?

  2. You think that's bad, you oughta come South and check out some of our blue laws. I actually support a State's right to pass moral regulations, assuming their constitution permits it, but of course the people can elect representatives who reflect their values.

If you find yourself on the minority side of this issue, and can't stand it, I suggest moving somewhere that agrees with you. Thomas Jefferson called this "voting with your feet," because by moving you deprive the state of your taxes, and over time enough people doing this will cause change. It's democracy in action.

  3. Most states also restrict gambling on a pool game.  Although there is skill involved, the wagering arises because the outcome is not known beforehand.  I suppose it is because your legislature finds it immoral.  More likely is to make sure all the gambling money goes in to the regulated and taxed gambling.  Nothing personal.  Just business.

  4. "Will the state come over and teach my kids proper ettiquette at the dinner table too?"  LOL Wow you must be a liberal!
