For example if the state pays a provider it is usually between 1.50 and 3.00 per hour per child?

  1. If the provider is caring for the children in their own home, they are considered to be an independent contractor running their own business, so are not covered by minimum wage laws.


  2. Because child care providers usually work with multiple children.
