Why does the stupidest stuff make the news?

Not to long ago on the news they were talking about some school would get more lunch trays for their cafeteria, Who cares why does the entire state need to know about that. There all the time talking about schools and its all stupid. Why do they put that on the news?

I would rather heard about things like that than heard about someone coming to school with a gun and killing their classmates, staff and themselves.

We live in one of the most illiterate countries in the world. If they put sophisticated news issues on the daily news,it would be over the majority of people's heads. Thus the news people know that they have to put simple news stories and killings to match the mental level of their viewers. I stopped watching the news ages ago and decided to read alot to clear my mind of all the usless brainwashing of watching  too much television.

When gas first started going up, they ran something in the newspapers about how the gas stations were having trouble finding enough "2"s for the dollar amounts.  It got lots of bad reactions in the paper.  Why that qualified for news, I don't know.
