It's like the same reason you keep breathing I suppose. Don't know the technological answer but it's just the cycle of life. Without the sun we couldn't exist.

because it is something that is constant and changes for nothing, you could die tomorrow and the sun would still shine and the birds would still sing

I really don't myself.  Although the sun is over half its life span because it keeps burning fuel which in another thousands of years will die.  Birds will always sing until they evolve into non singing birds or until the world ends.
