  1. Rotation of planet Earth.


  2. For the same reason that onlookers go whirling past you when you ride a merry-go-round, while the person on the next horse over doesn't go anywhere but up and down.

  3. Because you are stationary on the surface of a rotating planet.  

  4. Because the earth rotates? It really depends where you are on the globe. In Japan, the Land of the Rising Sun, it always looks as if the sun is rising.

  5. Don't they teach you this stuff in school? the earth revolves around the sun. the earth also rotates. As the earth rotates the sun appears to be

    coming up on the eastern horizon in the  morning. The earth continues to move slowly around and that is why the sun appears to move overhead as the day goes on. when the place where you are rotates away from the sun it appears to be sinking in the west which is the end of the day.

  6. The sun seems to "rise" and "set" simply because Earth is rotating.

  7. Because the Earth rotates on its axis!
