  1. Its to do with the diffraction of the other spectra of visible light being diffracted off the ionosphere, leaving only red light to shine through.

  2. Unusual cloud conditions can increase the pinkness of a sunset.  You may remember the sky colour in Southern England on 27th November 1979.

  3. because the sky fills up with candy floss. Duh

  4. The red hues of the sky at sunset and sunrise are caused by Rayleigh scattering, the same mechanism that causes the sky to be blue.

As light travels through the atmosphere, some of it is scattered at large angles by small particles. This type of scattering, where the particles are much smaller than the wavelength, is called Rayleigh scattering. Because Rayleigh scattering is much stronger for shorter wavelengths, like blue, the light from a clear sky is blue. Likewise, as the blue component is scattered out of a ray of sunlight, the remaining light becomes yellower. At sunrise or sunset the light has traveled a long distance through the atmosphere leaving only the longest wavelengths like orange and red. The reddened sunlight illuminates clouds and other particles. The combination of orange and red clouds and the blue sky can produce a variety of colors.

Volcanic eruptions release particles into the atmosphere that affect scattering. A number of eruptions in recent times, such as those of Mount Pinatubo in 1991 and Krakatoa in 1883, have been sufficiently large to produce remarkable sunsets and sunrises all over the world.

Sometimes just before sunrise or after sunset a green flash can be seen.

  5. Simple.

The Sun sets in the west, and most of our weather comes from the west.

As the sun goes down it light up the underside of the clouds in the west.

If the clouds are white and not full of rain, then the reflected light is pink or red.

  6. NOT TRUE OLD NAVAL SAYING

    PINK SKYS, TONIGHT.....SAILORS DELITE,

PINK SKYS AT DAWNING,...SAILORS TAKE WARNING.

IF THERE IS PINK SKYS AT NIGHT, THERE IS A STORM APPROACHING AT SUNRISE,..TAKE WARNING

  7. Not exactly sure what you mean by this question. But, I do know that the sunset turns pink (or other colors) because of the sunlight hitting and bouncing off the dust and water particles in the clouds. Also, there is an old addage, "If it's red in the morning, sailors be warning." I am sure that has to do with the fact that if there is enough moisture in the clouds in the morning to have the sunlight bounce off and make it pink, then you're in for trouble because the sun, during the course of the day, is going to heat and fuel the clouds and weather system, raising the clouds and creating storms. The higher the clouds extend up, the more intense the storm will be (because it gets colder as you get higher, so hail can start to form).

Might not be what you meant, but I hope that helps.
