(clarinet). Is it because your body heat and the instruments are colliding together so it pushes out a wierd sound and that's why it's off key??

  1. coz they expand and the vibrations change

  2. Because the notes are determined by exact measurements.

All things swell with heat and shrink with cold (except only one thing, water..)  When you have a cold instrument the body is smaller than warm.  All orchestra instruments have to sit for a day before they will play them.

  3. well things expand when exposed to heat or if exposed to a cold tempeture they tend to shrink. but for an instrument, depending what type your using, you always gotta tune it at whatever place you use it at. since i play guitar i gotta tune it every time i go somewhere cause if the place is hot then the strings tend to loosen up cause the strings expand due to the heat and vice versa to the cold tempeture.

  4. The materials they are made of expand and contract depending on the temperature
