  1. I think you should stop dumping your dead bodies in that trash can. Why not put them in a neighbours? (Preferably at least 5 houses away, so the smell doesnt effect you).

But seriously, if you clean it and you thoroughly clean it, and nothing will make the smell go away, why not buy a new one...?

  2. Dump some pine sol or lysol in it every few days.

  3. Bones and meat scraps attract flies which could explain the smell and the maggots (ew!).  I have this problem too since I only have once a week trash pick up. Sealing the garbage in heavy duty plastic bags before putting it in the cans is the only thing that helps.

  4. If your trash can is metal - empty it out, put some newspaper in it and set fire to it, then hose out thoroughly.

If it is a plastic trash can - omit the fire business above, just hose out, scrub with a long handled hard broom and then add some disinfectant.

When that is done, make sure that any food scraps that you put in there are first of all wrapped tightly in plastic and tied so that no blow flies can get to work.  If you should get a blow fly or maggot, spray with fly killer straight away.

  5. Rancid grease and oil.  You need to wash out that garbage with some good detergent and lots of water.

(and no farting when you take out the trash!)

  6. Because of all the garbage you put in it. Also because it probably has never been cleaned before.  Garbage smells which can make a garbage can smell, and even more when it's never washed.

Just take a hose and clean it out, or try and hold your breath around it. I'd go for option number one, that way you don't have to go around holding your breath.

  7. animal died in it? .. it could have also been it rained and the trash got all moldy.. ew good luck

  8. All rubbish - whether their organic or not - will eventually compact down and that compaction causes a heat to be produced, even in small amounts ..... if your rubbish has been in the bin for a while - with the lid on - you are effectively creating an enclosed environment inside the bin ... the evaporated water and gases released with evaporation (drying out of things) can't escape and will cling to the surface of the container .... that's what's happening in your bin ..... you need to give it a good wash out with detergent using a scrubbing brush .... then you need to dry it with say paper towels as best you can ..... then you need to leave it open for a day or so (that's without the lid on) so that all the smells and bacteria that remain on the surface of the inside of the bin can dry out and die (bacteria is what causes the smell) .....

Then from now on you make sure that all food stuffs (cooked or not) that are discarded in your bin are separeately wrapped up at least twice in plastic bags so that they can't make contact with anything else in the bin and the bin itself ..... you'll also stop the dogs and foxes from digging around your bin too .....
