I'm also having trouble balancing the tension, but it's very minimal. I've cleaned and oiled everything, and checked all adjustments I can think of.

  1. When this happens to me, it's because I didn't get the thread all the way down into the tiny slot on the bobbin case. You also have to make sure the bobbin is loaded in the right direction (It's different on every machine so check your manual)

If you have played with the bobbin tension, you'll have to take it to a repair shop and have them put it back. That thing doesn't give you a way to tell how far you turned it. I've never touched mine in 35 years of sewing.

  2. sounds as if your bobbin case has a nick in it, which can happen when your needle gets thrown off base and hits it [example have your broken a needle lately?  If so you probley have a nick].  Take it out, run your finger across it, is it all smooth?  If so you are ok, if not you have a nick [I can see them on my without running my finger]

If your sutter is plastic, take a nail file, use the side that is for smoothing your nails, gently go over your bobbin case with that side and get that nick out.

If it's really bad, you can get a new bobbin case for your machine.

  3. Unfortunately (since you are already having trouble with the tension) the bunching is caused by incorrect tension. Check your owners manual for the recommended tension for what material you are working with. You also should check to make sure your bobbin is in correctly.
