  1. Because they don't have as many nuts as we do. Luckily.

SO moving to England or Sweden once I get older.

  2. Maybe because they are the only ones bothered enough to make an issue about it rather than be satisfied with the whatever "debate" is thrown at them.

Maybe they are the only ones wanting to SPEND time on correcting an issue which has been taken for granted in other nations So that they're children are broguht up knowing both sides of the story and not just what "others nations" think.

  3. Other countries have started to be secular

  4. Because the church has much more clout in the US than in other "Christian" countries. Scientists all over the world accept that the issue has long been settled. It is just a handful of scientists (probably with close ties to the church) that dispute this...

  5. America the land of the free? How can their politicians wage war if God wasn't on their side (that goes for the waring Muslim stares also). Evolution is a fact can't you see it around you aren't people getting taller each generation. For a smart articulate country of individuals your phobic fear of this issue is ridiculous.

  6. Because they are opinionated

  7. I wouldn't say 'only'.  I've met at least four young-Earth creationists here in Australia.

Actually one of them was an American.

  8. ID is the "Trojan Horse" of stupidity.  Let it in, and it's all over.

For the most powerful country in the Western hemisphere, we the US, can be pretty STUPID!

  9. Citizens of the US are encouraged by their government to remain willfully ignorant, and mostly just ignorant. It keeps the masses under control and all-around dependant on their government.

As for some muslim countries, I don't know.

Here in Canada it is a non-issue.

  10. It's social normalization, the views of fundamentalist are more acceptable in these cultures. Science is viewed as a threat to their faith and so much to say that descent of this view is social unacceptable.

  11. It's an issue in the UK here.

Unfortunately, not enough people understand how poor an idea evolution is from a scientific point of view. The evidence does not support the hypothesis that man has evolved from some ape-like creature.

Perhpas you've come across the movie 'Expelled'. People who do not agree with evolution are marginalised and not given a platform to state their view and point out the flaws of evolution.

  12. Perhaps because we've done that already.

  13. Oh it is debated in the U.S. and possibly other places too.

But since the man that did not believe in God made "evolution" up; it could be that those other areas (and some of us in the U.S.) are able to realize that since God is so smart to have made ALL that there is in planets, moons, stars, and all that is on them. God could, with ease, have put odd items in the earth to test us to see if we will stick to believing in Him (God); or go to what some are making up to fit what they find.

I believe in truth. Facts are needed, not imagination.

  14. Well, some men need to define what they believe in especially when they are what you would term " Strong men"...the type of guys who'd form a paramilitary army to get rid of an invading enemy etc. I guess these regions are culturally like that only the invading enemy is the modern western culture, paradoxically catalysed by Jesus's easy going, ruleless religion.Evolution, in particular is a big enemy as it seems to suggest no God. I guess its especially espoused by the biological sciences which is the grade of science the least clever students go into...chemistry/maths/physics being the harder courses. In reality, I'm not sure that Physics doesn't secretly suspect there is a God, in particular Quantum Mechanics and its interpretation of reality. But Evolution is TRUE: it makes everything fit in biology from why we have illnesses to why we are all so alike. Unfortunately, a lot of believers in religions can't grasp its difficult concepts despite the fact their church leaders have accepted its truths vs the book of Genesis

  15. Oh I do! I do! I do! .............rest easy Voltaire!

Dont you mean  "Spend" time ?

If you say its a waste of time wots the point of asking the question ?

  16. I am British but have traveled extensively in the US and have both friends and relations there. There seems to be far more belief in ID and Creationism amongst educated people in responsible positions in the US than in the UK. Why this is so is unclear, but I think it's because there is a lot of pressure from the uneducated and semi-educated causing them to conform. The reason it's not a big issue amongst the uneducated and semi-educated in the UK is simply because they never think about it and couldn't care less, whereas in the US children from a very young age are encouraged to have opinions and to articulate them. That doesn' mean, of course, that they can actually think! I have noticed on political threads that Americans are far more knowledgeable and articulate than their British counterparts.

  17. Cos I think you'd find high degrees of incest in those areas.

  18. Evolution is still only a theory, not fact or law like gravity or the sun as the center of the solar system. The debate will & should go on.

  19. I can't speak for any Muslim country, but in America our educational system is falling apart, and it is well known that a lack of basic education contributes to a fundamentalist outlook.

  20. I guess because there is terrible education in those places.

To Nikki: You don't understand the difference between scientific law and theory. Evolution is also a fact - look at the definitions.

  21. Fundamentalists tend to reject evolution because it contradicts what they believe the bible tells them about the creation.  Many Muslim countries contain a high proportion of Islamic fundamentalists, and the south of the USA contains a high proportion of Christian fundamentalists.  The former is understandable, given the nature of Islam, but the latter is harder to understand.  It is an issue in the UK, but a minor one, as there are far fewer fundamentalists here.

The theory of evolution is very strongly supported by the evidence, and Darwin (who believed in God, incidentally) was driven to formulate the theory by what he saw during his famous voyage on HMS Beagle.  There is nothing in the bible that contradicts the idea of evolution, provided that Genesis is read and understood as a creation myth, which is what it is, and not as a literal account or scientific textbook.  It's interesting that the first and last books in the bible (Genesis and Revelation) cause more problems than the rest put together!

  22. because they have their secular society was formed and kept as such for a while ... also people are less extremist in their religious views ...

the problem with those two regions is that it is often small groups ( who require power ) who wants to shape the views fo the community instead of the ever living moto in canada and europe : live and let live ...

it is when people try to transform others that the debate sprout !

  23. I think you are not looking.

  24. Because there's so many christians in america that they actually have room to talk. they're in our government and everything. I believe we should take legal action; that's like teaching that the world is flat. it's messed up. on a lighter note, go to www.venganza.org. very relevant. all hail the flying spaghetti monster! RAmen

edit: It seems that a really big issue is everyone's misunderstanding about the context of the word theory. THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A THEORY AND A SCIENTIFIC THEORY LOOK IT UP SHEEP you have absolutely no room to talk if you haven't even done that. how do these people survive in the real world?

  25. I think because they agree that it's proven fact.

  26. Because the majority of us have been taught how to use our brains.  I'm amazed alot of these bible bashers do not believe the world is round or radiates from Jerusulem!

  27. We had it ages ago. The reason it's resurfaced is because of your poor education standards.

    Just look at national IQs.

  28. because the nation there have strong religousbeleifs. its not a waste of time. people have a right to their opinions. a waste of time is posting stupid q's on yahoo.
