  1. Mayday is from the French m'aider which means "come to my aid/"come to help me."

    Found it in wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mayday_(dis...

  2.       It's from French  "M'aidez". which means "Help Me."

  3. my day

  4. "May Day" is one word (mayday) and it means "help me" in french.

  5. Hey are you crazy or psycho...May Day is Labour Day.. it is not Month's name, my dear baby, Labour revolution is celebrated on 1st May, as on this day they got there rights legally, When there is a labour strike in a city, they call it May Day Strike, ok..

  6. The Mayday has a French origin, but the reason that it is used in verbal communication is that it is unmistakable, even on a static-filled radio. It is the same as SOS in Morse code, easy to transmit and not confusing.
