Question:

Why does this drive me insane!?

My best friend was my first crush which I told her how I felt. She understands but only sees me as a friend. We are close friends and care for each other. And I don’t want to destroy our friendship over feelings so I try to ignore them and move on. And met other women (I am bi sexual).

When my friend and I had to share a bed during a trip together she seems to lay close to me her face near me and her hand touching mine. She sighed in her sleep and cuddle near me; I couldn’t stop fantasying about her lying on top of me and cuddling which drove me mad. And I still cant stop thinking about it…my friend doesn’t mean to be so close but I think she was just being friendly and felt comfortable around me (we know each other for 7 years, I am her only closes friend). what should I do to stop thinking about her every time I go to bed?

  1. Consider seeing a counselor.  It's pretty harsh to project your sexual thoughts on a dear friend, especially one who's already said they're not interested.

  2. I am not homosexual, but I was straight with issues of rejection.  When a girl would dump me I would go out and find a girl that looked just like her, c'mon you know where I am going with this, and it's a lot cheaper than therapy.  Now that was the old high school me.  The current me would say you have difficulty separating love for a sister(who loves as such) and your more primal instincts.  You see the situation was wrong from beginning to end. She was wrong to be that close to you in a bed understanding your persuasion.   It is identical with a guy friend sleeping with her that she looks on as a brother.  Two people can not be in that intimate of a situation without the lines being confused.  If you valued your friendship with her, you should not have forsaken it by being tempted by a situation that you should have denied yourself.  Now that this is out of the bag (unless you take my high school advice) the friendship can not return to it's prior status, your friend's trust has been betrayed.
