Question:

Why does this tv look dim?

I bought a used Sony 36 inch HD-ready trinitron. It is a crt tv.

I brought it home and now I'm bummed. The color looks really muted and faded out. I'vee screwed around with the brightness, etc. but it just can't get the contrast I had with my 27" Sony flat screen.

Anybody know why or how to fix it?

  1. cause you wasted money on a name. go back buy a lg or sharp 32 inch lcd for about the same price and you'll be much happier

  2. Contact sony service station.

  3. FIRST....set that TV's Contrast /Picture control to maximum.

Next...set the TV's Brightness, Color and Tint to Halfway....

    Now look at the picture....

Too dark?  Set the screen control by getting a TV technician to your home.

Since most picture tube TV sets AGE, you most likely will need that adjustment....

Now that 27 inch Flatscreen you're talking about....is that a CRT too? Or are you comparing apples to oranges with a 27 inch LCD TV set?

There are differences in Flat panel technology.....

But the settings I told you about are the factory standards and THEY DO Deliver the best picture....The only adjustment that should be adjusted to YOUR PREFERENCE is the color control, as that is more to your personal liking....some like it richer, some like it realistic looking, and that setting is for realistic.....
