  1. In many countries in Asia, Like China, SIngapore, Hong Kong including Thailand... red mean Luck/Happiness.... Tiger's is from Thailand.  By wearing red color on final day, he believe he will get better lucks.

  2. Its a superstition he has.  In Thailand red is a lucky color, and he is half Thai.

  3. He wears red on Sunday because at a young age his mother encouraged him to do so.  She told him the color red is a symbol of power.  The first time he wore red in a tournament, he won it and has worn red ever since.

  4. It started out as a superstition, becoming a tradition.

  5. Just to clarify, Tiger's mom is 50% Thai, 25% Chinese, and 25% Dutch.

  6. superstitions

  7. Red is supposed to be a lucky color in Thai culture (His mother is Thai).

However, a recent study has revealed that sports teams win more when they wear red shirts. You can see a post about the study here:

  8. He has always played Sunday in red or something close to red.  The reason is self explanatory.  He doesnt wear tee shirts-they are not allowed on the PGA Tour.  Its a mock turtle neck.

  9. I spoke with tiger breifly at last years US Open at Oakmont.

This was one of the few questions I was able to ask him.

His EXACT words were, "This is based on Thai superstition - red, the color of blood, symbolizes aggressiveness.  By  sunday I need everything I can get."

  10. COZ its really lucky 4 him.

  11. Red is an aggressive color.  Look at old videos and Lee Trevino would do the same thing.  Just like Gary Player wearing black.  Hey it seems to work for him LOL

  12. Because the sponsors don't want that buggaron to wear pink.

He is one helluva golfer though!  Great beard!

  13. I believe it is from his mother's Thai influence. Red is the color of strength. Seems to be working.

  14. I suppose red represents his tenacity and determination to excel above others. Red is also a colour to caution others as if to say 'Here I come, watch out! Make way for me!' :-)

  15. "Tiger wears red on Sundays because the colour means good luck in Thailand his mother's native country. But there's more to red than that. As the colour of fire and blood, red is associated with energy, war, strength and power." -Golf Magazine (December 2006)

Also thre are some things that are wrong with other people's answers, and it kinda bugs me.

    1) Tiger is NOT from Thailand. His mother is from Thailand. If he was from Thailand, then how could he play on the American Ryder and Presidents Cup teams?

    2) Tiger does not always wear a mock turtleneck on Sundays. He also wears normal polo shirts.

  16. To honor his mother - it is her idea
