Why does usa have so many airports?

i mean usa have like 14,000 airports. omg! england or germany have like 500 each.

is it because usa is very big ? or

  1. that's amongst all 50 states.

    Europe is divided into separate countries, where the US is divided into states. if you add up all Europe's airports, it may be closer to our total

    and we have a lot of small airports for private flyers so they're not all large airports that you can fly into


  2. First take a look at a globe and compare the size of England or Germany with the size of the USA, then you will know.

    Second it depends on the fact that, in USA train transport plays only a subordinate part.

    If all Europeans, who are used to long distance trains, would switch to aircrafts as in the USA, we would need the same amount of airfields.
