  1. Because it was a bunch of islands in an inlet...

  2. venice is a series of islands linked by bridges and the canals formed that way.

  3. where would the gondolas glide to, without the waterways?

  4. Because it was originally built on a series of small islands that are now sinking into the ocean.

  5. After these answers, I think that the better question would be : Why all these canals have Venice?

  6. to walk through the city, which is on the water (Adriatic Sea)

  7. basically, a house or apartment with a view of water is worth more money. some clever b*****d noticed this and put a canal outside his house. the price went up. everyone else cottened on, et voila. **** loads of canals. a better question would of been:

how do they get the beef flavour onto beef flavoured hula hoops? huh? rubbing a cow with plain hula hoops wouldn't work would it. the mind boggles. it would be 5 pts well spent.

  8. It's obvious:   The Gondolas would look silly with wheels on them if there were no canals only roads..............

  9. because it is build on an archipelago
