I got an old Dell optiplex 150 and replaced the 32mb card it had with a Nvidia Geforce 5200 series 128 mb card and the video is looking worse (slower/choppier) that with my old card.

  1. did you actually install the new driver and uninstalled the old driver ?

  2. Download teh correct drivers

    http://www.nvidia.com

Choose the GeForce 5xxx series and XP (or whatever OS you have)

    Install and done

  3. 1st step in any hardware problem is to make sure your video drivers are up to date.

If that doesn't fix the problem i'm not sure what to tell you.  Was your old card on the motherboard?  if so you should try to disable it in the bios or something.
