  1. my mom had the same problem.if youll go outside and look at the back of the air cond. there should be a lil plug if you take it off the water should drain outside.dont know if the older ones do this but my moms new one was like that.also when you put it in your window it has to sit at an angle so the rain doesnt sit on top of it and damage it. so you may want to check on that too!good luck

  2. You need to adjust the level of the window unit so that the water will drain outside. Do not drill any holes. Just reposition the unit to where the rearend of it  leans downward a tad so the water will go out the back.

  3. ac units remove humidity from air in house, warm air holds moisture better than cold air. When warm air comes in contact with cooling coils, some of the water in the warm air condensates on coils and drips into a catch pan where it drains out. Your drain is stopped up, see carolina gurl's answer

  4. your evaporator (inside) produces condensation which drips into a drip pan and then flows outside.  this drip pan is famous for clogging because of deposits, corrosion ect.  you can tilt the ac all you want but it's not going to fix it.  you might have a chance of cleaning it.  take the whole thing out and concentrate on the Styrofoam drip pan causing the problem. you might have to dissemble it to clean it.  do not try to remove the Styrofoam unless you want a headache.   you can clean it.

  5. If its not from the water that normally goes out the back then it may be just the cabinet temperature low enough to condense room moisture on the surface. Maybe the cabinet is missing insulation or the humidity in the room is just too high and will quit doing that once the room temp. and humidity has come down.

  6. That happened to my grandparents just last week. First check to make the there is enough of a tilt so the water runs towards the back of the unit and is able to drain. If that is not the problem you may have a clog somewhere either in the drain hole (on the botton or back of the unit) or where the water goes into it. To clean it you can try a pipe cleaner (or anything you can fit in). If you can't reach it because the compresser is in the way you'll have to pull it out of the case so the cover is not in the way.

Newer window units don't always have a drain hole and are supposed to evaporate. My grandparents had one of those and the water did not evaporate at all so we had to use a water hose to get the slime out and we drilled two large holes in the bottom.

The water gets there from the humidity condensing on the coils.

  7. ACs remove water from the air. Window units should tilt slightly downward toward the outside, so that the water will drip out of the back of the AC onto the ground.  Check to see if your unit is tilted correctly.  The drain at the bottom of your unit may be clogged; you can easily unclog it.
