When it's hot, I can't stand water, but I LOVE cold water. Why is this, since it's the same H2O that the body recieves?

  1. I guess it is like beer. Beer is "supposed" to be drank warm as it brings out the taste .Cooling it lessens the flavor .We call that making it smoother I guess but to beer purist it is a crime.

  2. Water has no taste if it does its not good water to begin with.

  3. hot or warm water is closest to your internal body temperature, and is therefore less 'refreshing'. room temperature or cool water usually 'tastes better' because of this. cool water quickly cools the body, whereas hot water does nothing but hydrate.

  4. Why does soda taste better when it's cold?

I don't know, it just does.

  5. It sucks the heat out of you

  6. I don't care for cold water. I'd rather have room temperature.

  7. i guess its just how thirsty you are most people dont drink hot water when they are thirsty or if your drinking it with hot food

  8. Kind of a good Question,  really.  Two primary Answers:

Hot water,  straight from the faucet,  contains many more dissolved solids  (minerals and metals)  than cold water does.  Water,  in pure form,  has no taste  (or smell)  whatsoever.  But processed,  purified municipal water has had a  lot of things added  (and, typically,  subtracted)  from it.  When it's warm,  you can taste and smell all the non-water components much more readily.

Also,  things that are warm/hot are easier for the human tongue to taste than  things that are cold  (or frozen).  A perfect example is ice cream or sorbet:  eat some of it while it's frozen,  then allow some of it to thaw and come to room temperature.  The thawed ice cream will have a very sweet,  almost cloying  flavor  (sorbet may have an intense tartness).  It's meant to be consumed while frozen.

  9. It may be engrained somewhere in your brain and stomach. The body absorbs cold water faster, ideally between 45 and 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Cold water is therefore more refreshing and enjoyable when trying to rehydrate. The cooling effect within your body is negligible (you can't effectively burn calories this way); it's much more about the accelerated absorption.
