  1. the XP theme isn't much of an improvement over the classic theme anyway...

Its just there so you can pick whatever you want to use. If you don't like it don't use it.

  2. b/c most windows power ussers were used to it from earlier versions of windows. i use classic view in xp for a long time, i found it better to work with.

  3. you dont have to use it

  4. Some people, like most teachers at my school for example, hate change.  They hate it SO MUCH, that they want the old version back.

The other reason is so that the IT department could be tricky and not let the users know they upgraded the OS...

  5. Because its to the point, easy to use.

Also the start menu is different for people who prefer it.

    Its just personal preference.

  6. Because when Microsoft launched XP many people it looked a bit Toytown (like Vista does now), so they provided a simple theme to keep Windows 2000 users happy and make them feel at home.

  7. The classic theme takes up much less system resources than the "prettier" themes.

If you go into your performance settings, you will see that you can disable a lot of the fancy shadows, fading menus, etc to get better overall performance.

I personally use the classic theme because I want a computer that runs well, rather than a pretty looking desktop.

  8. LOL...because some dorks r living in the stone age, fear change, and actually prefer it.
